MEN
China continues their domination in the sport of table tennis by
winning 3 of 4 gold medals in these Games; failing to sweep all four
events which they have done in the past two Olympics. Nevertheless, of the 20 gold medals that have been given out in the
past 5 Olympics (4 in each), only 4 have not gone to China.

MEN
For the first time since Tennis was re-introduced in 1988, the
US fails to win a single gold medal in the sport's 4 events. Nicolas
Massu becomes the first man to win both the Singles and Doubles
events and only the second person to do so since 1988.
