5-4 in a penalty stroke shootout. They are the 1st to defend their title

affectionately known as the Hockeyroos,
reinforced their status as the greatest women's hockey side in history
with a 3-1 win over Argentina in the gold medal match. Captain Rechelle
Hawkes joins Andrew Hoy and Dawn Fraser as the only Australians ever to
win 3 gold medals. Australia also won in Seoul '88 and Atlanta '96.
