tournament but ranked only 11th in the world, powered the US to its 2nd
consecutive Olympic Beach Volleyball gold medal defeating the Brazilians
12-11, 12-9. Italy beat Argentina decisively 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 to win
the volleyball bronze medal. Yugoslavia resoundingly crushed Russia 25-22,
25-22, 25-20 to win the volleyball gold medal.

They become the 1st volleyball team, men's or women's, to win 3 golds in
a row. Brazil defeats USA 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 for the bronze repeating
their '96 performance.
