On 19 June 1999 in Seoul (South Korea) during the 109th IOC Session, Turin, Italy received 53 votes (vs. Sion 36) to become the host city of the XXth Winter Olympic Games in 2006. The Torino 2006 Games will have 7 sports (15 disciplines) with 78 events of which 41 are men's events, 34 women's and 3 mixed events (luge doubles, figure skating pairs and ice dancing).
