SEP 29 :: [my liver is evil] and must be punished. And I went all out on the punishment. Thu, Fri, Sat AND Sun night! Andrew (furry) from London is visiting. Out of those 4 nights, he has spent 3 elsewhere. I told him a 75% success rate makes him a whore to which he replies that he doesn't charge so he's a slut. 4 nights in a row at JR's is harsh! Friday was a good day - the boys and I took a road trip to Reston to have lunch with my hag (Nicole). Then we went shopping at Tysons which was fabulous. And then we watched planes at Gravelly Point. Awesome. Dinner at Annie's last night was a hoot. We were doing blowjob shots at the bar. I had cream from forehead to chin. Natch.

Can you believe it's almost October already?? This year has flown by. Maybe that's a good thing since it hasn't been a terribly good year for world peace (where's my tiara). Fall is here, the air is getting cooler and crisp. Although I'm not a big fan of change, it's the only constant that keeps us going. Life is beautiful.

SEP 24 :: [venting] It's Wed, hump day. It rained, more floods. I had not planned on writing but I'm bored and I feel like venting. Plus, Tony coined a new phrase "A hungry Kiat is a grumpy Kiat". My bitchiness inspires poetry. Fun. But what I want to vent about is violence; specifically - Bush, war and guns. Let's call them the axis of violence. Is it any wonder that the same NRA-sponsored President who ignores the fact that around 30,000 Americans die of gun violence every year (incl. 3,000 heart-brakingly young children), would lie to start a war of choice? Yes, I am anti-Bush, anti-war and anti-gun. In short, I am against violence. And one other thing, when are the Washington Post Editors going to apologize for their Drumbeat on Iraq? I promise the next post will be more light-hearted. I'm angry today and it's very exhausting.

SEP 22 :: [hurricane party w/end] 40 dead, 4mn+ lost power, floods everywhere, Fairfax had no water... Oh what a storm! Dupont Circle was unscathed. My friends and I partied through Friday and Saturday night. Chris, Allen and I packed it in with the powerless suburbanites at 30 degrees. The trio of chefs on Saturday night - Chris, Mikko, Tony - were outstanding! I have a dire weather forecast - I don't think it's ever gonna stop raining. More rain/storms today and tomorrow. *sigh*

SEP 18 :: [isabel slams into NC] (9/18) So DC is like the city that could. Everything is closed today. Everything. Airports, rail, the federal government, even the subway is closed. I'm thankful that my power is still on! (9/19) Metro reopened but everything else is closed. Giggle. 20% of the metro area lost power. I hope that includes my office. Giggle again. (13:38 EDT) Yay! SAIC is closed!

SEP 17 :: [isabel is coming] The Mid-Atlantic states are bracing for a mighty collision tomorrow as Hurricane Isabel barrels into a burly, stiff-necked high pressure area lodged over the Northeast. Isabel, as a hurricane, is expected to thunder into North Carolina around midday tomorrow, then pivot northward tomorrow night, morph into a strong tropical storm and mount an assault on the high pressure. Torrential rains and violent winds will accompany the attack, sweeping northward as far as southern Pennsylvania and New Jersey by evening. Tidewater Virginia can expect to be hammered by hurricane-force winds during the day Thursday with the Washington-Baltimore area and Philadelphia getting slammed by damaging gusts toward evening. Even New York City will be swept by increasingly powerful gales tomorrow night. Another threat: significant tidal flooding in Tidewater Virginia, the southern Chesapeake Bay and even up the Potomac. In spite of the fact Isabel is no longer a category 5 monster, the weather in the Mid-Atlantic states will, in truth, turn monstrous tomorrow. - Weather.com

SEP 15 :: [hotlanta] Dinner @ Seeger's and Tamarind, shopping at Discover Mills and floated in Shelley's pool all weekend. Life is so hard sometimes. Oh I do have a whine - I dislike UA RJs from IAD to ATL. The flight attendant on the way back was such a ditz. After a 1hr weather delay in ATL, she served drinks from the back! We were seated in row 1. Hello? Couldn't she tell I was drunk and needed water? Woe is me. And what is Carrie doing with that Russian creep?! Isabel is coming... and Happy Monday!

SEP 11 :: [two years later] "In the two years since Sept. 11, 2001, the view of the United States as a victim of terrorism that deserved the world's sympathy and support has given way to a widespread vision of America as an imperial power that has defied world opinion through unjustified and unilateral use of military force.

"...The war in Iraq has had a major impact on public opinion, which has moved generally from post-9/11 sympathy to post-Iraq antipathy, or at least to disappointment over what is seen as the sole superpower's inclination to act pre-emptively, without either persuasive reasons or United Nations approval.

"To some degree, the resentment is centered on the person of President Bush, who is seen by many, at best, as an ineffective spokesman for American interests and, at worst, as a gunslinging cowboy knocking over international treaties and bent on controlling the world's oil, if not the entire world." - New York Times

SEP 10 :: [fortieth] Where: Dupont Grille | Who: Chris/Dave, Gary/Mike, Gen/Tom, Mikko/Rob, me and the birthday boy | What: Champagne, German choc cake from CakeLove, great friends, great food, great wine... 'nuff said. Happy 40th, Tony! (there, I've put it in print - eat your heart out Mike)

SEP 08 :: [head hurts] Had an insane cosmo and mojitos weekend. I had enough cranberry juice (and vodka) to shit out a whole cranberry. Met new fun people. Head hurts. Back to work. And a $525 billion budget deficit?! Bush is crazy.

SEP 05 :: [weekend] The weather's gonna be perfect. I have three parties to attend which means I won't be sober till Monday and even that's a stretch. My girls and I invaded H&M at Dulles Town Center for lunch. I had to get my fix after the disappointing downtown experience.

SEP 02 :: [weekdays suck] I feel like whining - Will it EVER stop raining?! and the new H&M in downtown DC sucks. The men's section is tiny. Why is there even a kids' section?? Their demographics are whacked.
