[fetch friday] Just got back from a super-fetch sushi lunch with Nicole at Yoko. Me love her long, long time for being the sturdy planks in my life when the ground is liquefying beneath me. Top down driving in springtime is glorious, though it was a tad chilly at 65° out today. 50s/70s throughout the weekend with zero clouds is in the forecast. Mother Nature is making up for last weekend's Ark-building rains.
So I was out of gas in Herndon when I realized that the gas stations in that area were shut down coz they were out of gas! OMB. I was like, WTF?? Anywho, I drove all the way to Rosslyn before I found gas at Our Lady of Chevron (bless her). I was damn near running on fumes. Anywho, I paid $3.30/gallon for gas today, holy shit! Well, that's for premium but my car only takes premium :-p Yea, $50 to fill my tank! Good grief. I just looked through my credit card bills and can you believe today is the first time I've gotten gas in TWELVE weeks?? The joys of commuting by Metro, which costs me about $50/month.
Only had to work 1 1/2 hrs today, yay me! I only had 3 1/2 hours sleep from last night's whirlwind happy hour (and then some) adventure at JR's and, hold your horses, Green Lantern *GASP*. Lots of free drinks ;-) though at one point, I lost my cup and, with it, my ability to get more free drinks. Well, it was for the better since I was pretty toasty at that point. Last night was my first foray into the GL (aka shirtless pit of DC's least attractive) since last August! *shame* What a mess...
I could give you a rollcall, but that would just be mean to those present :-D And definitely NO pictures!!
Oh and I did find out that while we made it into the online Cherry-pix edition of MW, we did not make the print edition :-( Bitches! @ 14:54

[cum-quat] After this weekend, there'll be only three more weekends till my birthday weekend. What to do, what to do... Do I celebrate the entrée into the final year of my 20s? Or do I just mourn the passing of yet another year of my fledgling life?
My two crystal wonton-balls tell me that I have another blowout party in the horizon. How tedious, I know.
If I do have another house party, I'm thinking the Kumquat Caipiroshka sounds like a fetch drink of choice, n'est-ce pas?
My birthday month starts in 4 days :-D @ 14:00
[odd couple] Hmm... This is getting weird. Back in July when China unpegged the yuan to the dollar, Malaysia unpegged the ringgit an hour later. And yesterday, Malaysia raised interest rates by .25% to 3.5%. China followed a day later by raising its rates from 5.58% to 5.85%, its first rise in 18 months to cool an overheated economy that grew at a neck-snapping 10.2% in Q1. I find the coincidence quite odd.
Monetary tightening is spreading across the globe.
And the only reason why this even bothers me is coz the ringgit soared to an 8-year high after the rate hike. The ringgit has risen 4% since the depegging. Yup, everything that my mom spends on my credit card is now 4% dearer. Sigh.
Woe is me :-) @ 11:30
[fuked yp] OMB, the Cherry pictures are out in MW!! All's I have to say is this picture of Patrick, me, random hot stranger and Bethany is H-O-T. The only thing hotter would've been if my torso was actually in the picture, lol! Kidding :-p I'm not sure if that pic made the print edition or not (probably not), but I love it! I have no idea how I got roped into going, but I had a blast. And at $60, it's almost twice the highest amount I've paid so far to get into a club. Oh well, at least this one was for charity *giggle*.
So Rick got massively wasted at Halo while I was watching oh-so-sweet-but-oh-so-fucking-annoying Pickler get thrown off of American Idol last night... I'm like, hello, why didn't she sing LeAnn's "How Do I Live" instead of trying to LeAnn-ize the Unchained Melody?? Silly gurl. And go Kat! I was pretty floored by her rendition of I Have Nothing. I love Paris too, though she may be too young to be the winner? We'll see. My interest in Chris is waning. The fire never got started with Taylor or Elliott, eww yuck.
Aaaaanywho, so Rick sends me this text that only a drunken person can type out on a Crackberry (which has the entire QWERTY keyboard):
"So fuked yp at halo"
LOL!
And this, from this morning:
Kiat:: Gurl, are you alive??
Rick:: Rick died at 12:02am. Please leave a message for his next of kin.
Kiat:: Message for his tombstone: Here lies Regina Cuntina - The fetchest mean girl DC has ever laid eyes upon... or just laid.
Needless to say, he has modified his will so that his family knows to leave his funeral arragements to me. Fetch.
And where's Jason? Bitch is on his night shift again, grrr. There must be a reunion this weekend. Natch. @ 11:04

[obsession] OMB, I think I just found my new love:
It's the new Nokia N73 announced today (which means it won't be available in the United States of cellularly-challenged America until next year, der). But check this out - It's a quad-band phone WITH 3G *faints*. A *HUGE* (and size does matter) 2.4" 262k color QVGA display, 3.2 MP camera (!!!) with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, mechanical shutter, integrated flash (*squeal*), Bluetooth 2.0, a MiniSD slot, MP3 media player, FM radio, and so much more! It even vibrates which means this is definitely a multi-entertainment device *wicked grin*. Downside? It's about 20% heavier than my current phone :(
Oh who am I kidding. This phone is HOT! Once in awhile, it's good to lust after an inanimate object for a change ;-) I need a new obsession... @ 17:59

[cherry weekend] Drizzly Friday - pre-dinner drinks @ Cobalt with Rob, Greg/Michael & Liz, then dinner @ Duplex with Jason, Rick/Jose, Liz & Beth, and finally Halo/JR's.
Downpour Saturday - Soaked up to the knees in the rain walking to Rob/Mikko's for a dinner party with Chris/Dave, Alan, & their Finnish friends Peter and Lari, then (another) Jason's housewarming in Columbia Frights, and finally Cherry XI at the 9:30 club.
Drizzly Friday
Lovebirds: Rick and Jose, dinner @ Duplex. What's that in Rick's hand? Der, a vodka-cran of course.
AR Bitch: Liz, ma bee-yotch from Ah-ken-saw
Taxi!: We piled SIX in a cab to get from Duplex to Halo in the rain, fierce!
The 6 Friday Hos: (clockwise from top; as if you need anymore intros) Jose, Jason, Rick, Beth, Liz and me!
The Hos of Halo: Liz, Rick, Beth, Jose and Jason @ Halo! Sooooo drunk...
Mojitos: ...and getting drunker! Pineapple mojitos are FETCH.
Riiide: Liz loves to ride! Bet she's never ridden an Asian before *giggle*
Liz & Jamie: Liz loooooves her black boys ;-)
The Hot Chicks: Beth, me and Liz!
Beth: "Suck it down, bitch!"
Jose & Beth: The GB sisters
CFMP: Liz's Cum-Fuk-Me-Pose
Downpour Saturday
Housewarming: Adam, Randy, me, Michelle and Patrick @ Jason's housewarming
The Party Girls: Adam, Michelle, David, Forty, Mike, John and Patrick... and me? I was taking the picture *sigh*
The Mean Girls: Chuck, Chris, Nick and Bernie... looking fierce!
Cherry XI: Red Hot!
OMB I: This boy was so hot, I couldn't stop staring at him, mentally undressing him oh-so-agonizingly slowly before just ripping it all off and, um, *censored*
OMB II: Such a beautiful body, I wish I had better lighting for my pictures! Grr...
OMB III: Drip, drip, drip... his sweat... and my pre-cum
The Stage: As seen from the dancefloor. The two boys in the middle? OMB!!! I can't type...
"Get up on the...": ... Dancefloor!
The Circuit Boys: This is the best picture I have of Cherry XI - crowds thinning, very late in the evening (or very early in the morning)
The Stage: As viewed from the balcony. So many shirtless boys... So many hot bodies... Sigh.
Dancefloor: Saying goodbye to my first ever Circuit Party (I know, I'm so lame)
Yea, can you believe I went to Cherry? I can't believe I paid $60 to get into the 9:30 club. Peter Rauhofer spun, and he was F-I-E-R-C-E. The party girls went to after-hours at Platinum at 4am. I called it a night (um hi, 5 hours of dancing? MORE than enough!) and went home. It was such a great night though, dancing all my cares away, and just sweating it all out... Actually, it wasn't that sweaty, but some boys really need to bring a towel to clubs or keep your shirt on coz your drenched body does not feel good on mine. And neither is your shaved chest! I felt like I was grinding against sandpaper all night. Shaved skin and smooth skin don't mix.
Can I say what a brilliant idea it was for the 9:30 club to offer free water? So fetch. Totally rehydrating. They weren't doing it coz they were being charitable, trust. It's the drugs, der. E requires a lot of hydration (not that I would know), so I've heard. Speaking of drugs... SO much drugs going on at a circuit party. I mean, I have always known but wow... Does the fact that I'm smiling means I (a) have drugs to sell to you; or (b) need more to keep my smile up? I'm like, hello, I'm just loving the music! Stop trying to get me to take E or G or Charlie or Tina or whatev, good God.
I remember the first time I was offered drugs. It was a friend. He was also quite persistent. I, of course, refused. I was quite furious for the longest time. How dare he? To force such vile substance on me, hrmph. But I've since gotten over it. Well, friends offered me drugs again at Cherry. And yes, I refused it again (aren't you proud of me?). I just don't see the point. Not really so pissed at the offer this time. My take? Drug users are just lonely and they want everyone around them to be on the same high as they are, hence the offer. I can still say no and be your friend :)
Just don't try it again, bitch! Coz the next time, it'll be death by a thousand chopsticks! @ 22:15
April 21, 2006
[near and far] The Queen (yes, the real one) celebrates her 80th birthday today! She has now reigned over the United Kingdom for 54 years, 10 years shy of Queen Victoria's record 64-years on the throne. God Save the Queen, indeed.
Closer to home, Metro has decided to extend the Yellow Line to Fort Totten beginning next year. That's good news for peeps who live in the U St corridor and Columbia Frights, I mean Heights. That also means no more having to wait for the Green Line train when going from the SE bars to U St. Um, what SE bars? Only Wet and Nation are left, and they're both closing by mid-summer. Yup, an entire quadrant of gay bars/clubs, gone.
This is a cool little graphic from the NYT today. There is a strong correlation between the politics of voters in a state and gas consumption. No points for guessing but the bluer the state, the less oil is consumed per capita. It's still startling to see such a straight-line proportionality between the two. It just goes to say that Republicans are wasteful pieces of shit who care less about anything else but themselves. Whoa, did I say that out loud? ;-)
And so this is good news indeed ($75/barrel!). I wanna hear all the Republicans *scream* from high oil prices. I wanna see oil prices double, yea yea. Prices are already above $3/gallon (for regular) at most pumps in DC, CA and HI. Prices in the UK? Average is $6.40/gallon.
I love it! Oops, meeting at 1pm. @ 12:59
[beeeee-zy] I woke up late this a.m. (surprise, surprise) and had to rush out of the house before the maids got there. So, no time to post the card :( I do admit it's been kinda fun waking up every morning and having a new envelope labelled "Open me on Fri a.m." sitting on the bedside table. I also have containers with leftovers labelled the same way in the fridge ("Eat me on Thu p.m."), but I've only eaten once at home since Tony left, LOL! He's gonna be pissed...
Work has been crazy busy this week. One of our team members is leaving and my boss thinks I float on tree tops so most of his duties landed on my lap. Fun. Plus, I have had the distinct displeasure of assuming half the duties of another team member (coz apparently he's sooooo busy with other stuff that my bosses think I should help out) so basically I'm doing 2 1/2 persons' jobs on one person's workday. It's a blast, I tell you.
It was 80+ yesterday so Rick, Tyson and I sat outside at Le Pigalle after work and had Moet and wings for a few hours. We met a lesbian at the next table with her two straight girlfriends (who both secretly want to experiment with her, der) and we were riotously comparing notes on "Girls who are boys, who like boys to be girls, who do boys like they're girls, who do girls like they're boys". In short, it was a gender-confusion conversation. Fetch. Lesbians are hot!
Jose joins us and we head to Logan Tavern for dinner. Shaun waited on us and told me about our Metro Weekly picture from JR's the Sunday before. I should start charging them an appearance fee! Of course, that was the Easter blackout night so I have no recollection of having my picture taken by MW. Coz really, bitches, if I had, I would *not* have approved of how slanty my eyes look in that picture! Good gracious Heavens...
I was good last night. I had three drinks in three hours, in case anybody is waiting for me to do a Bree and pass out at Macy's :-p
Cherry weekend is here. And Mother Nature has designated this weekend as April Showers weekend. No, make that April Downpour weekend, coz it's gonna f-ing rain from tonight till Sunday. Stank. I will probably be occupied with bars and parties till Tony gets back on Sunday. So, have a good weekend, y'all!
P/S: I really should post the pictures from last weekend before this weekend rolls around. Oops, too late. @ 11:16
April 20, 2006
[memories] I have lots of fond memories. From when I was little. From primary school. The bulk of it from secondary school, pre-U and then University in UK. The teen years. A lot of awesome memories in the UK. An avalanche of great memories in DC since then, my entire 20s. A month from today, I will enter the final year of my 20s. It's been quite a journey. The journeys never end. When one stops, another one starts.
"Life is a painful progress..."
There was a time when love was so innocent and so pure. Those days are gone now, defeated by the inevitable human desire for more. More excitement, more different, more pleasure, more lust... more love. The highs were soaringly high. The lows, depressingly low. Each defeat is a memory.
"All memories are traces of tears."
There are some memories I wish I never had. Places in my life I prefer not to touch. But inevitably I do. And they seem like dreams now with the passage of time. And if I linger too long, they consume me in a fantasy. But there are those which are searingly painful still. If I dwell on them too much, they will consume me in tearful despair.
Those are the ones that were filled with suffocating, corrosive tears. Eating away at my insides, dismantling all that I believed, sweeping up the future, and putting out hope. As they do now.
Someday, I will look back at the autumn of '05 till the spring of '06 as just another memory in my life. The tears would've dried by then. But the traces of them will linger forever. I will never forget this place.
"Life is a painful progress... Longing for what we left behind, and dreaming ahead."
I will never stop dreaming. @ 18:09
[protect] Today's card made me chuckle :)
Ooh ooh ahh ahh... No, that's not what it said inside, though that would've been funny, wouldn't it?
I love you -
I'll hold you + protect you. Feel my heart reaching out to yours even as we are apart.
Love, Tony
Yay, I'm late for work! @ 08:35
April 19, 2006
[escape] The desire to escape is heightened these days.
It's not a pretty admission, especially when the agent of escape seems to be alcohol. Though, I am unsure. I do know that I seem to want to drink past the "tipping" point these days, because anything short of that i.e. just being somewhat drunk, would just amplify the emotional turbulence. So, even though I know I shouldn't, I buy (or, more often than not, have it bought for me... yes, my friends are evil *grin*) that one extra drink which puts me into blackout territory. Already, twice this past weekend I have been made aware of some details that were not in my memory. In the past, I never let myself lose control like that. But these days, all I want to do is forget.
I am still repulsed by the thought of drinking alone, or the thought of vodka a day after I drink myself to oblivion.
For now.
What if it gets worse?
I also have problems sleeping through the night, often waking up after just 4 hours of sleep and needing additional comfort for about an hour or two before sleeping restlessly till morning. That additional comfort sometimes comes in the form of my emotional anchor, who holds me till I fall asleep. But sometimes, I want to escape from that even, and that desire drives me to Tylenol PM...
For now.
What if it gets worse?
The sea is very, very turbulent. And my anchor's away. How to stay afloat?
I miss my baby... @ 11:14
[whisper] Today's card. It's handwritten.
Did you hear me whispering sweet, loving words in your ear?
That was me, holding you and reassuring you.
I love you + will protect you!
Tony
Bear with me. I'm not trying to kill all of you with our mushiness. I just need the reminder... coz I can't do this by myself. 08:59
April 18, 2006
[forever] Tony is in Vegas for the next 6 days :-( I got a card when I got home tonight... and one each for the next five days. Amazingly enough and as impatient as I am, I have not opened any of them yet :-)
"I'll love you forever."
It's been a long time
since I first told you that,
but it's still true
with each new day.The more of forever we share,
the more positive I am
that you are my happiness.Of course, it hasn't always been perfect.
We have disagreements,
disappointments,
and stressful days.Love can't change that -
but it does help make those moments
seem pretty small compared to all
the wonderful times we've shared.I'll love you forever.
I'll never stop loving
the way you look at me,
the way you smile,
the way you make me feel...I've found that our love
keeps getting better,
richer, and deeper. And I look forward to tomorrow
with you there beside me,
laughing at our shared memories,
dreaming our new dreams.I know I'll love you forever.
This one's for me. I just wanted a reminder for the rest of the week... to tide me over till Sunday. @ 22:21

[drunk-texting] The problem with drunk-texting is an entire conversation is immortalized in your cellphone which is all fine and dandy until it gets published on the internet, LOL! We were upstairs hanging off the balcony at JR's after Easter Sunday brunch, when Patrick and I spot "Shaun". Reason for the quotes is I've met this guy like 4 times in my entire life, twice in JR's and one at H&M where we started talking about basically nothing, which is what you end up doing with complete random "I met you once at a bar" strangers. How we got to drunk-texting one another, I have no idea coz I don't even know how he got my cell number.
Check this out:
Shaun:: Ur friend in brown is cute
Kiat:: All my friends are cute
Shaun:: Well of course
Kiat:: So why aren't u up here
Shaun:: My roomie
Kiat:: You're not gonna get laid down there ;-)
Shaun:: Will I get laid up there?
Kiat:: Get your pasty white ass up here
Shaun:: After he leaves...dont wanna b rude
Kiat:: Tell that bitch to leave coz you're horny
Shaun:: Am I?
Kiat:: That shirt screams "fuck me now"
Shaun:: Happy Easter! Lol
Kiat:: So lame
Shaun:: Just wait ill b up there
Kiat:: Whatever, sit on my face
Shaun:: What bout ur friend's?
Kiat:: That's what he said
Shaun:: Soon...
Kiat:: Not soon enough. Get your fucking ass up here and quit playing
Shaun:: I'm not leaving my roomie...hes leaving soon
Kiat:: Time goes by... so slowly for those who wait ;-)
Shaun:: It may b worth it
Honestly, I don't remember typing half of that. But I'll play along. No doubt, Patrick was egging me along too. That tramp. @ 15:27
[detox] I cannot even begin to tell you how inebriately we celebrated Easter weekend by basically drinking through it. Literally. I mean, how else do you celebrate a religious holiday? Religious holidays have lots in common with family gatherings: the only way to put up with them is to drink through them :-)
And drink, we did! In a gist, Halo on Friday, a 12-hour drink-a-thon on Saturday which involved Pepper's/Alberto's/JR's/Halo/Nation/Diner, and 13 bottles of champagne between 13 of us on our deck yesterday for Easter Brunch. Followed by JR's, OMB! I was completely shattered all three nights, with last night being the drunken night to end all other drunken nights. No, it wasn't healthy. But yes, I had fun.
I drank so much this past weekend I thought I was gonna wake up to 13 empty bottles of Freixenet lined up outside my bedroom door, Bree-style.
And so, my liver is shot this morning. Apparently, Jason's left kidney hurts, LOL! And I don't think it's from the alcohol either, although she was blackout Betty last night (hat-tip to Bernie for that one). I'm thinking it's all the banging :-o Which means her spleen and her jaw hurts as well. Silly gurl.
If I never see another alcoholic drink again till the weekend, I won't complain. I know, I'm getting old *shame*. Either that or I'm turning into an alcoholic. You gotta admit it's a great way to escape, n'est-ce pas? Haha, kidding. Trust me when I say I can't be an alcoholic because the thought of anything to do with vodka right now is revolting to the point of regurgitating. Ooh, that means I can still get a mojito, LOL!
I *am* kidding :-p Pictures and more details later. @ 15:01
[united awards] As you all know, I am a frequent travel whore and slave to United's Mileage Plus awards program. ChrisFT alerted me to these award changes that will take effect in October of this year (yea, can you believe that work is busy enough that I'm falling behind on my FlyerTalk-ing??).
In a nutshell, I'm not so bothered by the changes. The major changes are to domestic standard awards (which I've never done), First Class to Europe (again, never), and major increases in number of miles needed to go to Australia (60/90/120 to 80/110/140 :-o). The main award that I frequently use (to Asia) did not change. So, I'll just go to Oz via SE Asia instead, der. The most frequent use of my miles is for upgrades and that hasn't changed either (although I have a suspicion that it will... soon) so I'm basically unfazed by this recent development.
I think the biggest change that United announced was to charge $50 for award travel ticketed between 1-2 weeks before departure, and $75 for last-minute travel within a week of departure. Those costs would hurt especially since I kinda liked the option of not paying $2000 to fly to SF, and just used 25k miles instead for travel at the last minute.
Oh wait, those fees only apply to the unwashed masses. 1Ks are exempt *gloat*. @ 14:30
April 14, 2006
[whoops] Toldcha I was scatter-brained today... I forgot the damn pictures! Der.
April 7
Apex: Patrick, Evan, Adam, Taylor and Jason @ Apex! Wait, where am I?
Apex: Der, of course I had to get in on the action. Eww, my hair's too short.
April 9
Logan Tavern: Sunday brunch @ Logan Tavern. Eww, my arms are fat.
Tony & M2: Tony looks bald!
The Ultmate Bloody Mary Menu: Make your own perfect drink! Of course I had to get very spicy and wasabi. I can almost accept crabmeat in a bloody mary, but shrimp??
Calorie-busting: I got my eggs, and I got my bloody mary. I'm in heaven.
Jason & Rick: Rick's hair looks like Gandhi's. But definitely not as skinny! She knows I'm only kidding. Bitch is about as sensitive as sandpaper.
Daddy: Now that he has spending money, he's my daddy!
M2: Looking happy and drunk sitting outdoors at Peppers aka Le Pigalle.
"She's my Girl": This has got to be the best accessory to have in Dupont Circle... Yet.
Hard Discount: Being very juvenile (and tipsy) @ Lambda Rising
Large: This is Rick's crotch. This is also false advertisement :-D
Double-Wide: I will have you know that Rick took this picture of a patron sitting at the bar at GB!! I am nowhere near this evil... and to prove it, I refrained from putting the "Large" sticker on her ass!
Biceps: This is "bicep boy". I hope he never sees this coz this picture was taken by a waitress whom we befriended and asked her to do us this favor!
Picture Lady: She's the one!
Jose: Behind the bar. Serving. Yea, a lifetime of servitude, LOL!
Rick & Beth: Beth is super-fetch!
Me & Beth: ...with the fiercest tits!
Large: Totally Pamela!
I Love My Penis: The best T-shirt, EVER!
Me & Jose: Gearing up for the Immigrants' Rally.
Lovebirds: Rick & his (dare I say it) Spick, LOL! I'm kidding!!
Drunk: Jose, Rick, me and Jason outside of GB. Definitely loaded at this point.
Valet: Like I said, "SERVE, bitch!"... Wait, where's Michelle?
Cock: Tastes Like Cock... I Love My Cock... It's all about Cock!
April 12 & 13
Mike's Birthday: Ben, me, Mike and Scott @ JR's
M2 & Jason: Wearing pink. On 17th St. Yup, *SO* gay.
Pink: That drink is the same color as his T-shirt i.e. 99% pure vodka
JR's Happy Hour: Last night... Is Kirk looking for the second cumming?
Oh, I forgot... I've been at JR's the past three nights, LOL! Kwazy. Also, some place called the Science Club as well. Very chill. Anyway, I'm off. Ciao bella. @ 17:10
[scatter-brained] Wow, I must be ill to only now put up pictures from last weekend! Feeling scatter-brained today... I did my taxes this week. Not pretty. I owe like six grand. Travesty. Would've been way more had it not been for Bush's cap gains tax cut. Oh well, he is of some use after all.
Took Nicole out to our favorite Pad Thai place in Herndon today for her birthday (it was yesterday, and bitch is officially O-L-D *giggle*). I only had to work 1.5 hours today so I've been home for much of the day. It's 76° outside so I have no idea why I'm sitting at home.
We have a dinner to go to tonight. Some Brazillian churrascaria called Fogo de Chão. Don't even ask me how to pronounce that but I know it's not "chow". That little squiggly thing above the "a" fucks the whole thing up. Anywho, it's some meat place. Great, just what I need. I'll be eating chicken all night, giggle. Should be fun.
Nothing else planned for Easter weekend. Is it really the second (or third) busiest weekend for family gatherings? Who knew... Well, since family's not here, I'll just have to put up with my "family" here in DC - all my sistahs!
Have a good w/end y'all. @ 16:37

[trans fat] After reading this little gem of a health article today, I decided to, hmm, go check out some facts about fat in general.
Basically, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good (lowers LDL and raises HDL). Saturated fats are borderline (raises both LDL and HDL), and trans fat should be avoided like the plague (raises LDL, lowers HDL).
Mono/Poly fats are found in olives, olive/canola/peanut oil, cashews/almonds/peanuts/nuts in general, avocados, corn, soybean, cottonseed oils, fish, etc.
Saturated fats are found in whole milk, butter, cheese, ice cream, red meats, chocolate, coconut products (milk/oil), palm oil, chicken skin, egg yolks, etc.
Trans fats are found in margarines, vege shortening, partially hydrogenated vege oil, chips/fries/onion rings, fast foods, snack foods, processed foods, commercial baked goods (cookies, cakes, crackers, bread).
Recommended daily intake of trans fat by US FDA is "less than 2g, perhaps less than 1g". Studies show that eating 5g of trans fat per day increases the risk of heart disease by 25%.
Check this out:
Amount of trans fat in what we eat:
Five chicken nuggets = 4g
One apple danish = 2.7g
Two Spring rolls = 1.7g
One filet of fish & chips = 1.2g
Two slices of pizza = 1g
Large McD's fries = 8g (!)
McD's baked apple pie = 4.5g
Large nuggets and fries in Denmark = 1g of trans fat. In NYC? 10g! Isn't that crazy?? Why the disparity? Denmark (along with Canada) has banned virtually all trans fats since Mar '03. NYC recently asked for a voluntary ban.
I am never eating french fries or chicken nuggets again... OK, never say never *grin*.
Ban Trans Fats. @ 13:44
[you must love me] I watched Evita last night for the first time in forever (10 years?). Can you believe it actually won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical, and Madonna actually won for Best Actress?? I mean, it's good but not *that* good. But whatever, I love Madonna. She has already sold out 4 shows in NYC's MSG, all 7 (!!!) shows in London's Wembley, and all 4 shows in Paris. Ugh. I'm still a little twirked up about her not bringing the Confessions Tour to DC. Oh well...
I love the song "You Must Love Me" which was written for the movie version of Evita. Thought I'd share the lyrics. Don't read too much into it. Or do :-)
Where do we go from here?
This isn't where we intended to be
We had it all, you believed in me
I believed in youCertainties disappear
What do we do for our dream to survive?
How do we keep all our passions alive,

[best place to live] Zurich (108.2), Geneva (108.1) and Vancouver (107.7) are the top three cities in the world for quality of living, according to Mercer's 2006 Quality of Living survey, followed by Vienna, Auckland, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. Sydney and Bern round up the Top 10. London ranks at #39 (101.2), trailing Paris (#33). Dublin is at #24.
Honolulu is the highest ranked US city at #27 (103.3). San Fran is next followed by Boston, DC (#41! with a score of 100.4), Chicago and Portland. Houston is the lowest ranking US city! Haha.
And for those who think Canada might as well be the 51st state, all Canadian cities came out ahead of Honolulu, led by Vancouver, Toronto (#15), Ottawa (#18), Montreal (22nd) and Calgary (25th... where??).
In Asia, Singapore scored 102.5 (#34) to overtake Tokyo (#35) for the first time. Eight Japanese cities rank in the top 70, followed by Hong Kong at #68, Kuala Lumpur at #75, Seoul (#89), Shanghai (#103 - the top ranking Chinese city) and Bangkok (#107). See? KL is a great place to live in! The third best in Asia outside of Japan :-D Not too shabby, huh?
Cities are ranked against New York, which has an index score of 100 (#46) based on a set of 39 quality of life criteria such as education, recreation, transport and housing. Baghdad was dead last out of 215 ranked cities, scoring 14.5. @ 16:56
[calamity] *Gasp*... No more osetra, sevruga or beluga?? What on earth will I do now?! The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species are such buzz-killers, hrmph. I guess I could just put up with caviar from (American) white sturgeon... or paddlefish.
Who's going to Russia next? I need me a smuggler. Caviar, yum ;) @ 15:51
[6 months] We finally confirmed our tickets today to go back to Malaysia for one of "my best friend's wedding" (don't worry, Su Ann, I won't try to steal ES :-p). Six more months, and I can't wait. We are flying business all the way, of course. I can't possibly do a trans-pac flight in coach, no sirree.
Slight variation in our route this time; we're going via Hong Kong instead of Narita which is what we usually do. Chicago-HK is the longest flight in United's network - a 7789mi, 15 1/2 hour haul across the top of the globe (the polar route) and through Russia, Mongolia, China before landing on the other side of the planet. It's quite cool, actually, coz you get to see the North Pole from your seat! It's cloudless up there. Barren. And (looks) very, very frigid. White as far as the eye can see. Quite surreal.
Yup, 15 hours and 33 minutes in-flight. Think about it. If you sleep a full 8 hours (which is kinda difficult on a plane), you still have FOUR good movies to watch before your plane lands. It's kwazy.
Transiting in HK should be fun. HK airport is way nicer than Narita. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm going home again! Now, I just need to figure out what to wear for the wedding! @ 14:07

[kwazy kawen] Anybody who shares the same name with TV's favorite hag (der, Jack's hag on W&G) is tres-fetch in my book. So here's a drunk-texting convo between me and her during Sunday brunch at Logan Tavern after two liver-bustingly strong Bloody Marys:
Kiat:: Are you back?
Karen:: Yes maam
Kiat:: Brunch? Logan Tavern? Now?
Karen:: I just returned from bunch :( am going to national gallery in about 1.5 hrs if you are interested
Kiat:: Brunch b4 1?! You're fired
Karen:: I know! Thats what happens when you brunch with the straights... My two worlds will never collide, the gays and straights are on 2 diff time zones!
Kiat:: Straights?? Eww, is that a new disease?
Karen:: I dont tell too many people about my secret life as a straight so please dont spread that around :)
Kiat:: Screw art, let's drink
Karen:: You arent by yourself at the bar again are you :) :)
Kiat:: Always waiting for you... my precious
Karen:: My sweet asian princess! I am in detox today. My liver is on strike
Kiat:: Just like the fucking French. How tragique.
Karen:: Mais oui. Who are you blessing with your presence at the moment?
Kiat:: All your favorite bitches - Jason, Rick, Tony and M2 ;-)
Karen:: Please kiss everyone for me!
Kiat:: I'm not catching STDs, thanks
Karen:: Ok then just BLOW them kisses
Kiat:: ROTFL. You are my DIVA! Miss you like Miss Saigon!
Karen:: :-x
Told you I was drunk ;-) @ 17:09
[0.07%] The "Axis of Evil", as told by an Italian, consists of the 3 Bs - Bush, Berlusconi and Bin Laden.
So the world rejoices today, after 28 hours of vote-counting, that Romano Prodi's L'Unione centre-left coalition has won the closest election in Italian history, defeating incumbent Silvio Berlusconi's Casa delle Libertà centre-right coalition by 0.07%.
That margin of victory - 25,000 votes out of 38+million or a staggering 84% turnout - automatically gave Prodi 340 out of 630 seats in the Chamber of Deputies (Lower House), courtesy of an unusual full nationwide proportional representation law instituted by Berlusconi's government 5 months ago (talk about the law back-firing). Prodi's coalition also won 158 seats in the Senate of the Republic (Upper House) vs. 156 for Berlusconi's coalition after gaining four of the six seats set aside for overseas Italians, thus giving L'Unione control of both chambers of parliament.
A razor-thin victory indeed. But doesn't even come close to Bush's margin of victory in Florida in 2000 (537 votes or 0.009%).
Romano Prodi:
"Il Paese vuole pace, unita' e ripresa economica."
"We want peace, we want unity, we want economic recovery and harmony."
Amen. @ 14:25
[linea roja] Been real busy. And unmotivated. Work is kickin' my ass. Weather's nice. 70s all week? We must be doing something right. Past weekend was splendid, except for a washed out Saturday which put me at home all day :-o Can you believe I stayed home on a Saturday night?? Anywho, have pictures from Friday and Sunday, will post later.
Only thing of note yesterday was the Immigration Rally/Hispanic Power (aka Rick's Wet Dream on the Mall) which sent droves of ppl into the Metro system, taxing it to breaking point. Especially at Metro Center where I was almost caught in a stampede of the tired and the poor (and the smelly, pee-ew) who were unknowingly blocking entrances and exits cause they had no idea where they were going or what they were doing, and all the commuters in suits were trying to get in or out. It was just mayhem. Apparently Metro etiquette doesn't translate into Mexican... or Spanish or whatever it is they speak over there *grin*.
Oh and hearing Metro announcements in Spanish was kinda cool. This whole bilingual thing is fun. How fun would it be to have "Bienvenidos" signs all over Metro? Or "Linea Roja"?
Yup, nothing much of note yesterday... well, unless you count the possibility of a nuclear war between the US and the Middle East. I wouldn't put anything past the idiotic and incompetent Bush Administration.
Things are gonna get messy! $100/barrel oil, anybody? @ 13:22

[friday!] Check this out - "New rings found around Uranus".
Wait, this can't possibly be such a scientific discovery if every bottom on the planet "discovers" this fact after a hard night with a top?
:-o
Co-workers and I just had Pho for lunch, which was heaven-sent considering the drunken state I was in last night after JR's. Oh! New bed comes today. Don't get all excited, it's Restoration Hardware. Plus I haven't found nightstands to go with the new bed yet. New dining table got here on Monday. It's a fetch contemporary thingie from Calligaris. I love it. Plus it's Italian *squeal*. But again, no chairs to go with the new table. Sigh. This is like new furniture week or something. Let's not forget the new printer/copier/scanner/fax machine HP thingamajig that arrived on Tuesday. Yea, the old Dell broke. Never buying another Dell printer again.
Quiet weekend ahead... I think. Why does it always rain during the weekends but sunny and nice during the workweek in spring??
OK, I should really get back to work. I'm *swamped*. @ 14:19

[argh] I have been in troubleshooting hell today. All f-ing day. Server issues, desktop troubles, fires everywhere. Plus I have a zit the size of Hatsumomo's temper above my lip. It even looks it too. I just popped it and bitch looks really, really angry.
No, I'm not in a fetch mood but that will change with vodka. Der. Everything is better with vodka.
I need a drink. NOW. OK, I can wait 7 more minutes... Seven more agonizing minutes before I tear out of here like Courtney Love fleeing rehab. @ 17:53
[$100mn/day] The Fortune 500 of America's largest corporations raked in record revenues last year of $9.1tn, and $610bn in profits. The biggest of 'em all, Exxon Mobil, supplanted Wal-Mart to be back at #1 for the first time since 2001. Exxon Mobil piled up numbers the likes of which corporate America has never seen, capping an emergence as not only the biggest but also the most powerful US corporation by just about any metric.
Fueled by high oil prices, Exxon Mobil sucked up $340bn in revenues, $36.1bn in profits - more than the profits of the next four companies combined - and surpassed GE to become the most valuable US company by market cap ($380bn). If Exxon Mobil was a country, it would be the world's 20th largest economy. $36.1bn of pure profits translates to the biggest annual profit on record for a US company, derived from the world's gasoline consumers pumping $100mn/day (or $1,140 a second) into the pockets of Exxon Mobil. Staggering numbers, and quite truly disgusting.
I have a thing against oil companies, and Exxon Mobil in particular :-p
The internet economy muscled its way into the Fortune 500, with Google (#353), Yahoo! (#412) and eBay (#458) cracking the 500 for the first time.
Revenue from Fortune 500 companies as a proportion of GDP has risen from 39% in 1955 to 73.4% this year, and could exceed that of GDP in the next few decades as companies record more overseas revenues.
Globalization at work. @ 11:19
[travesty] Mandisa getting eliminated last night on American Idol 5 is a Tra-Ves-Ty! This is right up there with Latoya getting kicked off in Season 3, and Tamyra getting the boot in Season 1. America *must* be deaf.
It's so pointless watching the show coz all the good ppl get kicked off by the dumb American public but yes, I am still watching it. OK, I'm TiVo-ing it too :-p So white trash, right? I love it! @ 10:52

[cherry blossoms] Tony and I went down to the Tidal Basin yesterday to check out the cherry blossoms. We decided on a weekday to avoid the crowds and sure enough, it was blissfully uncrowded. But the massive storm combined with high winds that rolled through the night before stripped most of the blossoms from the trees *pout*. Plus it was cold as balls and the winds were biting, but we made the most of our little picnic with yummy cold cuts from Dean & Deluca and sushi from Whole Foods.
After the entire city waited a whole year for the cherry blossoms to bloom again banking a huge chunk of the city's tourism industry on those 3,000-odd trees around the Tidal Basin, the cherry blossoms ended up peaking this spring for barely 5 days. Perhaps the fleeting nature of these blossoms and their startling beauty during those very brief moments that we can enjoy them remind us that life truly is to be enjoyed one day at a time. Most of us are preoccupied with planning for the future, or dwelling on the past. A little planning and a little reflection is good, as long as it doesn't stop you from living in the present.
Just because you're down and out, doesn't mean you should stop living :-)
Cherry Blossoms: Hmm, I don't look very happy (it was cold)
Cherry Blossoms: Still quite a few blossoms left for me to frame the Jefferson Memorial with
Cherry Blossoms: I like the pink ones better
Cherry Blossoms: The duckies have the best views!
Cherry Blossoms: Achingly pretty blossoms
Cherry Blossoms: OK, no more "framed Jefferson Memorial" pictures
Tulips: I call this one "Hairy Pussy"
Tulips: You just *knew* I had to take a picture with the yellow tulips
Tulips: Pink tulips, So fabulous
Life is beautiful. @ 22:17
[jane fondue] Last night, we went to Peter/Mitch's for "Jane Fondue" movie night. The movie was Barbarella (don't ask me what it's about, I didn't watch it) featuring Jane Fonda complete with tits-exposing opening credits. Shocking for a 1968 movie. Speaking of 1968... OK bitches, can we pick a movie that is, oh I dunno, released in the past 10 years??
The food was yummy-licious as usual. There were all sorts of fruits - strawberries, pineapple cubes, apple slices, etc. - all tasting fabulous dipped in chocolate fondue. I ate enough chocolate-covered fruit to shit out a fruit salad the next day... plus a few Hershey's Kisses! The 12yo-rum-spiked chocolate fondue was so good, M2 wanted to dip his Xanax in it *giggle*. I wasn't supposed to get tanked but 3 glasses of white wine later... M2 dragged us to JR's and I had two cocktails there. Yup, 5 drinks on a weeknight. So not fetch.
SB Balls: Chocolate-covered balls... just like SeaBiscuit's :-D
Peter & Mitch: Our lovely hosts! Love the fondue, bitches!
Ostrich: Tony sticking his neck out to close the height gap with M2
Melange: Rick and his ethnic boys
M2: My buddy, Michael
M2: Damn, my lips are huge...
M2: @ JR's. Aww, don't we look cute?
M2 & Tony: @ JR's. What is this, M2 night?
And to keep with the M2 theme all night, he had the best line of the evening:
"The best way to get over one man, is to get on another."
Words to live by :-) @ 21:56
[twelve hours] So... where were we. Ah yes, Saturday morning... was p-a-i-n-ful. Having Jason around the house is kinda fun coz you can almost assuredly count on the fact that no matter how hungover you are, bitch is that much more hungover than you. It makes me feel better :-D
Jason and I were feeding off each other's hangover like two vodka-drenched vultures. I sweated my vodka off at yoga before making our way to Lauriol Plaza for the birthday fetch-tivities. Whenever there's a gathering of the Fetch Trinity for whatever reason at all, and we set a meeting time, the countdown to that specific time is like the starting line of the 100m sprint. As soon as 4pm hit, we were pounding swirls at Lauriol Plaza - swirling from the downstairs bar to the rooftop bar - like it was an Olympic sport. Only, last Saturday night, it was more like the marathon!
Yes, my bitches and I drank for TWELVE straight hours. O. M. B.
Roll call at Lauriol: Rick/Jose, Jason, Peter/Mitch, Gary/Kirk, Tony/me. After a swirlingly good time at Lauriol (4? 5? 6 pitchers of swirl? I lost count, but I'm pretty sure we drank close to a pitcher each!) under a breezy but bright sunshiney blue skies, some of us went home for a wardrobe change (it was getting a tad nipply), and the rest went to JR's. The whole party reconvened at JR's where we stayed long enough for more hot bitches to join the party: Blast-from-the-past Scotty, the Axis of Evil, Chuck/David, Beth/Erin, M2, Bill/Soochon, Evan, etc... where-tf was Karen??
7pm could not come soon enough for Jason coz we were due at Cobalt for the Team DC fashion show fundraiser featuring, no points for guessing, SeaBiscuit! It was a roaringly good time with emcee "Barbara Bush". Models in all variations of undressed paraded out one after another modelling skimpy outfits from Universal Queer. And we got to bid on the clothes! Jason went wild in an escalating bidding war for SeaBiscuit's items of clothing, paying $165 for 2(x)ist underwear :-o She's so silly.
Beth/Erin, bless their hearts, were chewing on their panties all night drooling after boys they could not have *giggle*. There was one Asian boy model who looked more like Kim Jong Eww. As soon as he walked out, I glared at M2 and screamed "don't you dare!". I'm protective of my white boys *sneer*. The evening climaxed with $1 shots. What a brilliant move on Cobalt's part coz we just kept giving the searingly hot shot boy 20s and handing out test-tube shots of Red Bull and vodka to everyone. Riotous.
The final auction item of the night was Barbara's "Hillary '08" T-shirt, LOL! Love her!
Hmm, problem with writing 4 days after the fact is I'm not remembering much of the evening anymore. Let's see... After the show, we went back to JR's, stayed for a bit, before piling into multiple cabs and heading to Ziegfeld's. Can you believe we didn't make it to Secrets at all?? Well, last weekend was Ziegfeld's final weekend (yes, baseball triumphs over drag and dick) so the club was packed to maximum capacity. We went insane on the dancefloor before the drag show. Jason re-enacted "the ride of her life" (aka "Concussions on the Dancefloor") with SeaBiscuit (where bitch lost her camera and ALL the pictures from the fashion show), and Rick/Jose were grinding on each other like beans on rice. The drag show, their second to last (they closed Sunday night), was spectacular - Ella, Mary J., Diana, Madonna (doing Hung Up!), Cher, etc. All the divas were there. Loved it to bits. I will miss it. So sad.
OK, let's recap shall we? Lauriol, JR's, Cobalt, JR's, Secrets/Ziegfeld's... and the final stop of the evening - Wet! Der. The crowd was larger than usual at Wet, possibly due to patrons hunting for a new spot on the penultimate day of Secrets. The dancers at Wet still pale in comparison to Secrets, but mostly we were all so tired at that point, almost 10 hours into the birthday celebrations.
We chatted up a group of black chicks from California who all looked like they were 12. I found the Beyonce in the crowd and let her spank me coz bitch hadn't touched yellow ass before. There's nothing like dick dancers in the background to forge racial harmony. It was all good.
We Metro-ed back to Dupont (oh the shame) and ended up at Afterwords Cafe for some food (should've gone to The Diner) before retiring at 4:30am! It was really only 11 1/2 hours coz we sprung forward (Daylight Saving Time kicked in while we were gawking at dick), but it was most definitely a night to remember! I'm sure I missed something in the write-up but why bother when you have pictures (scroll down) to remind you ;-)
Here's to many more birthday fetch-tivities! The countdown to mine in May and Jason's in June has already begun!! @ 16:22
[xp on mac] This little juicy announcement from Apple today made me tinkle. Jason (my Apple whore) and I are gonna pick out my Mac Mini tonight.
Really, why buy a stank Dell when you can get a fetch Mac? @ 13:53
[jasmine] I just did my performance review today - I know, can you believe I've been here for a year already? I've been a Metro rider for a whole year! And just this past week, Starbucks opened a store immediately at the top of the escalators where I get off to go to work. Basically, Krispy Kreme and Starbucks are in my face every morning and evening on my commute. It's corporate America's vengeance, I tell ya!
Anywho, back to my review. We get judged on 8 categories on a scale of "You suck" (Needs Improvement) to "You rock" (Successful i.e. performing at 100%). And then there's an above-the-halo category called "You are the shit" (Outstanding).
I got 3 Outstandings and 5 Successfuls *beams*. My Outstandings came in "Quality of Work", "Customer Focus" and "Communication". The latter must be a misjudgement on their part coz I *am* the bitchiest, cuntiest primadonna on my floor, der. And the fact that I didn't get anything below 'performing at 100%' is quite shocking.
What it all boils down to is that my direct report here and my supervisor back at HQ both think my shit tastes like Jasmine.
So much love :-D @ 13:48

[chicken little] Welllll, this made me froth today: Embattled former House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay (R-TX), is calling it quits.
I had no idea that trash could take itself out. I love it!
Jim Dean (HoDean's bro at Democracy for America):
"Tom DeLay is a Chicken."
"We didn't think DeLay would 'cut and run' like he did. If he did nothing wrong - as he claims - then Tom DeLay shouldn't be afraid of a re-election campaign in a district he drew for himself."
I would pee down my left leg when I see Mr DeLay in handcuffs (my right leg is reserved for when Dubya gets impeached). That would be sweet, sweet justice, wouldn't it?
In other news, Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra also resigned today. He has been accused of abusing his power in government, and bending government policy to benefit his family's business.

[birthday pix] It's past 10pm on a Monday night. I'm tired. I'm bitchy. I'm even borderline cunty. Jason just sauntered in from JR's and demands to see these pictures I'm working on right now. I, of course, tell him to go clean his ass or something while I finish. And bitch goes:
"By the time you finish them, I'll be 38!"
Let's see. Launch Firewall. Identify all IP addresses belonging to USAT and Jason's laptop. Create deny rule. Execute.

Coming soon: Pictures from Rick's birthday night. @ 20:49
[the calm] After a late Thursday night and the impending April Fool's Day aka Rick's 31st drunk-fiesta-lebrations, Jason and I decided that Friday was gonna be tame. Uh-huh.
We (Tony, Jason and I) met up with Chris/Dave for dinner at Viridian. Never been there, thought it'd be fun to try it out. Fun... only if you want to dine with the gAy-ARP crowd and get really, really bad and s-l-o-w service. Food was just OK; my halibut thingie was nothing to shout about. I won't go back. Yes, I'm harsh. I had some blood orange martini thingie which was quite good, followed by two obscure bottles of red wine (no, not by myself... we shared :-p). I was already quite happy and sated when we decided to hop down the street (well, it was more like a drunken-prance if you ask me... Jason sashayed) to Halo for more fetch-tails.
We were bored. So hard to believe that on a Friday night, we knew next to nobody in a crowded bar full of men. Sigh. I mean, we did see some ppl we knew but nobody fetch, and it ain't worth my time unless you're fetch. Oh but speaking of fetch, bartender Brad is b-a-c-k! From Miami! Apparently he broke up with his bf and moved back up here and he's now a bar manager. H-O-T. Well, I mean it's sad for him, but YAY for me! I love free drinks ;-) I'm gonna be going to Halo more often now, LOL! Yes, Kiat to free booze is like bees to honey. Bzzzzz. "Check out ma yellow stripes, bitches" *giggle*
Anyway, back to being bored. So we ended up pounding some vodka-crans. The pounding must've gotten out of hand *naughty grin* coz the next thing I remember, I was picked up by my SeaBiscuit and I was galloping my way to another drunken night at the stables. Only this time, I dropped a FULL glass of vodka-cran onto the concrete floor, sacré bleu! Talk about alcohol abuse in the first degree. I should've been hauled off to the Hague and charged with vodka-cide.
The sound of smashing glass was the shatter heard around the gay DC world. Logan and Dupont both registered seismic waves. Oh the embarassment as the bar, the music, and the bartenders all stopped to stare at what a big ol' pile of mess we were.
Mortified, Jason and I decide that it was best to make an exit... while it was elegant to do so. So we grabbed one more drink *giggle* and then floated out of there. Walking down P St, we've learnt our lesson from many, many drunken nights past: We should only go to JR's if we can make the two blocks between Halo and JR's without hugging a mini. Well, Jason did (pictures to follow), and we were definitely on our way home. Drunk. At 3:30am. And in no shape to start the fetch-tivities at 4pm the next day. Looooord have Mercy! @ 14:43
[get up on the dancefloor] Since I couldn't possibly type out the ear-piercing, dog-howling, ultra-sonic squeal I'm emitting right now, I'm just gonna allude to this:
"I'm going to turn the world into one big dance floor" - Madonna, Confessions Tour 2006
Need I say more?
The scramble for tickets begins. Right now, there's nothing scheduled at Verizon Center but I see a big gap between MSG (6/29) and Boston (7/8). A Fourth of July concert in DC maybe? Or better yet, the opening show in LA which is the day after my birthday! Or even better, London Wembley on Aug 1st :-o
Confessions is gonna make Drowned World (2001) and Re-Invention (2004) look like a county fair.
I think I just hyperventilated and passed out. @ 13:36
