PRECINCT 4
PRECINCT 4 will be developed as the main commercial and business district of Putrajaya. So named to reflect its primary purposes, the Commercial Precinct (Precinct 4) is highly urban and dense. The Precinct will be well serviced by local roads, open spaces and several pocket parks, around which it is organized. Within this precinct located a few pockets of residential uses to ensure that the place is vibrant at all times.
The Commercial Precinct has a total land area of about 213 hectares, of which approximately 45% is devoted to open space. It is located at the southern end of the Core Island.
Various components in the Commercial Precinct establish the character of this precinct. This include the Boulevard, which runs through the precinct linking the east and the west commercial zones. The other dominant components are Dataran Rakyat and Dataran Gemilang, which act as addresses for the buildings that flank them as well as providing visual and physical foci for residents and visitors alike. The third element is the waterfront commercial area which will be the scene for night-time activities, evening events and strolling.
There are three bridges in this Precinct:
DATARAN RAKYAT
(PRECINCT 4)
Dataran Rakyat is an informal plaza, which is conceptualized with a
park-like character.
DATARAN GEMILANG
(PRECINCT 4)
Dataran Gemilang is a circular shaped plaza that marks the end of the
southern end of Putrajaya Boulevard. As with the other plazas, this
plaza has a direct pedestrian access to the Waterfront Promenades and
vantage point towards the Putrajaya Dam.

PRECINCT 5
PRECINCT 5 is being developed for convention and recreation purposes. Besides the Convention Center, other facilities will include sport academies and water based recreational activities.
Located at the southern-end of Putrajaya, across the lake and beyond the Boulevard, the Sports & Recreational Precinct (Precinct 5) is the second largest and the fifth and final precinct in the Core Area. It has a total land area of 330 hectares. This precinct is devoted primarily to active/passive recreational activity, including entertainment and social activities. Spatially to serve as the bridge between the Core Area and Periphery, its location allows it to merge with the Periphery Area seamlessly.
The main character of this precinct is largely established by the dominance of sports and recreational buildings as well as educational buildings. The Sports & Recreational Precinct is located at the southern most side of the Core Island and act as the termination of the Boulevard.
The Exhibition Centre is the dominant development component which provides a strong presence to the area. Other components are the theme park, low-density sports and recreational complexes (including a College and Sports Medicine Complex) and other educational institutions. There is a circular Taman Puncak Selatan which provides 360 degree views out. This forest hill park would be a mass of greenery in the precinct.
